Contract Type: Interim, Anticipated 6 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working. It is a hands-on role and the expectation will be to be onsite three days a week, with an option to work remote for one/two.
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Director of Housing Property Services for approximately 6 months. It is essential that you have experience of restructuring, repair & maintenance and Asset Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality, affordable and energy efficient homes across the council
Deliver sound financial and environmental returns on property and glebe assets, including developments and sales
Oversee the provision of high-level advice on buildings and land ownership, as required.
Provide effective support for those seeking to maintain and/or develop their facilities and/or buildings in support of organisational and community development
Oversee organisational performance monitoring, reporting and business improvement, operating effectively within relevant systems supporting statutory, governance, compliance and legal responsibilities
Oversee the development and implementation of a planned pipeline of sales/purchases and development opportunities in accordance with council corporate and housing business plan objectives and in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations
Act as lead for performance monitoring, reporting and business improvement activities. To ensure that property services teams are accessible, responsive and timely in all dealing to seek to exceed the expectations of our residents and stakeholders
Develop strategic budgets to deliver the aims of the council over the long term in the key areas of the postholder’s responsibility, delivering the best value for money possible
Making presentations as required to internal and external stakeholders.
What the client is looking for:
Previous experience of restructuring, repair & maintenance and Asset Strategy.
Educated to degree level and/or a relevant professional qualification with significant demonstrable post qualification experience.
Proven leadership, team building, motivational and effective staff management skills through supervision and performance management, with proven ability to lead, support, mentor and coach others and to bring out the best in people, inspiring confidence and respect.
Experience of delivering compliance and health & safety programmes within a regulated environment, including leading and transforming related services which meet customer service and efficiency targets.
Experience of preparing and managing large, complex budgets which maximise resources and deliver good value for money.
Experienced in dealing with a range of external stakeholders & customers, overseeing the procurement and management of subcontractors, building their trust and engaging them in collaborative initiatives that seek to improve service provision.
Experience of managing the implementation of organisational change and actively engaging colleagues and stakeholders in the development and continuous improvement of services.
