We are seeking a Domestic Violence Refuge Worker to join our committed team in providing high-quality, trauma-informed support to residents of our refuge. This is a vital role in helping survivors rebuild their lives in a safe and empowering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and practical support to women and children living in the refuge.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety and support plans tailored to individual needs.
- Advocate on behalf of residents with external agencies including housing, legal, health, and social services.
- Facilitate group sessions and activities that promote recovery, confidence, and independence.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
- Ensure the refuge is a welcoming, safe, and supportive space for all residents.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, ideally within domestic abuse or safeguarding settings.
- Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on survivors.
- Ability to work in a non-judgmental, empowering, and culturally sensitive manner.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and crisis management skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
