Crynodeb

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver "better trained sailors to the front line faster".

You will be responsible for instructing Royal Navy students in Trade Safety Principles, Procedures, and Practices, specifically delivering Trade Safety training during Phase 3 career courses across the four cadres of the Weapons Engineering (WE) department. Additionally, they provide general Health & Safety training and guidance to students undertaking Target Employment modules.

This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you'll be doing

• Instructing students the Royal Navy in Trade Safety Principles, Procedures and Practices within Weapons Engineering
• Establish and implement consistent and harmonised systems, processes, and approaches to training delivery within health & safety.
• Work collaboratively with Learning & Development, the Training Delivery staff to identify and support a personalised approach to learning and development - the learner journey - based on accurate assessments of the particular knowledge, skills and understanding that every trainee brings.

What we're looking for

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Experience in Weapon Engineering Safety procedures and an understanding of Royal Navy Magazine Safety procedures.
• An understanding of Military Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) organisation.
• NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Level 3 teaching certificate or equivalent (will be enrolled on internal training course if not held).
• Understanding RN, Engineering departmental workings, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding Weapon Engineering maintenance procedures.

About Selborne

Selborne is a wide scale, 12 year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN. The consortia of partners known as Team Fisher includes Raytheon UK, Fujitsu and University of Lincoln together with 14 other UK-based suppliers.

Our 'one team' philosophy is about collaboration and openness, key to the success of this programme. We are looking for people with the talent and experience who can help shape better outcomes for our customers. We are using our expertise in digital transformation to review service design, modernise courses and deploy cutting edge technology to enhance courses including synthetic training (simulator) systems and data analytics. This programme is a shared endeavour working alongside the Royal Navy's Training Management Group (TMG) as a single integrated team. Together, we will address challenges and collectively improve outcomes for sailors and marines at scale across the naval enterprise - something we are proud to be part of over the coming years.
