Your new company
This Multi Academy Trust is based in Lancashire with schools based in Chorley, Wigan & Warrington, with this particular role being based at a secondary school in Chorley. The trust is a dynamic and forward-thinking family of schools united by a shared vision of raising aspirations and empowering futures. When speaking with the trust, their commitment to delivering exceptional educational experiences is clearly demonstrated and the Trust places the pupils at the heart of everything it does. With a strong emphasis on values, community and opportunity, the trust is dedicated to empowering both students and staff to thrive, and they have approached Hays seeking a Senior IT Technician to join their central IT team. This team currently consists of an IT Manager, Assistant IT Manager and a team of technicians and apprentices, and they are keen to appoint a Senior Technician who will be welcomed into the team and fully supported.
Your new role
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Senior Technician will join a well-established team of support staff at the secondary school in Chorley, as well as be supported by the central IT team. The Senior IT Technician will work independently to ensure a high level of IT support is provided to both staff and pupils, ensuring that teaching and learning are enhanced through the provision of an excellent IT service. This IT service will include the management of the school's IT helpdesk, ensuring that issues are resolved effectively in line with SLAs, managing the school's active directory environment, ensuring the security of the IT network and systems and also supporting the delivery of IT projects on site and across the trust. On a daily basis, you will therefore be liaising with end users to provide both first and second line support, working to install and upgrade both hardware and software, introducing new technologies, keeping an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment/consumables and supporting from an AV and website perspective too.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will be an experienced IT Technician looking to progress into a senior role where you will be working face to face with end users, and gaining further knowledge and development. You will ideally have experience of working in the education sector, working with bespoke educational technologies such as Arbor, interactive whiteboards and also Microsoft 365. A proactive approach, as well as a passion for delivering a high level of support is required, and the ability to communicate well with end users is also essential.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be paid a competitive salary of between £29,500 and £32,500, which will depend on experience, and you will be joining a supportive organisation with ambitious plans for growth and therefore allowing you to further develop your own skills and experience. You will receive an attractive benefits package too, which includes either 27 or 32 days annual leave dependent on length of service, a local government pensions scheme, access to health and wellbeing benefits and lifestyle discounts.
