Payroll Officer
3 month FTC
£30-35k per annum depending on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their busy team
Duties include;

  • End-to-end payroll processing: Managing the full payroll cycle for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc payrolls.
  • Setting up new starters and processing leavers: Ensuring accurate onboarding and offboarding in payroll systems.
  • Calculating pay adjustments: Including bonuses, commissions, overtime, and manual calculations for SSP, SMP, Tax, NI, and overpayments.
  • Managing statutory payments and deductions: such as student loans, pensions, and attachment of earnings orders.
  • Submitting returns to HMRC: Including FPS (Full Payment Submission) and EPS (Employer Payment Summary).
  • Maintaining payroll records: Ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee data and audit trails.
  • Reconciling payroll: Preparing BACS files and ensuring correct payments are made.
  • Handling payroll queries: Responding to employee and stakeholder questions regarding pay, deductions, and timesheets.
  • Keeping up with legislation: Ensuring payroll complies with UK tax laws, RTI (Real Time Information), and auto-enrolment regulations.
  • Year-end processes: Including P11D/P9D submissions and payroll reporting.
  • Database and system management: Administering payroll software and time & attendance systems.


You will have;

  • Strong numeracy and attention to detail
  • Must have proficiency in payroll software and Excel - vlookups and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of pension schemes and HMRC regulations
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
