The Opportunity:
We are looking for a research nurse / midwife to develop and maintain the Theirworld Edinburgh Birth Cohort (TEBC). You will join a team of researchers investigating the causes and consequences of preterm birth on childhood outcomes, by leading participant recruitment and data / sample collection within a birth cohort study.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
The role is fixed-term (01/10/25 – 31/12/26) with the possibility of extension.
The salary* for this post is UE06N: £34,610 to £42,254 per annum pro-rata if part-time.
*A market pay supplement equivalent to 7% of salary shall be payable in addition to substantive salary. Additionally, the normal incremental pay range for this post will be points 1-9 of the published scales.
It is a requirement for the postholder to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Our offer is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and a satisfactory PVG check. Once you have accepted our offer, we will write to you separately with information on this. Please note that a delay in completing your PVG application or releasing the result to the University may cause your start date of employment to be postponed.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Previous senior level experience (nursing or relevant allied health specialist) in dealing with neonates.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to work unsupervised and using own initiative within the multidisciplinary environment and also as an effective communicator within a research team.
Newborn life support.
Time management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
