Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plater / Welder and Fabricator to join a busy and skilled engineering team. This hands-on role will involve working from detailed fabrication drawings to produce high-quality structural steel components for projects across construction, manufacturing, and heavy industry sectors.

To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:

• Proven experience as a Plater / Welder and Fabricator within a structural steel or heavy fabrication environment
• Proficient in MIG welding; TIG/MMA skills advantageous
• Competent in reading and interpreting detailed technical drawings
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and tolerances
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials safely

Within this position, you’ll also be:

• Read and interpret complex engineering and fabrication drawings accurately
• Mark out, cut, drill, and prepare steel sections ready for fabrication
• Plate heavy steel components ensuring precise alignment and tolerances
• Perform high-quality MIG welding (TIG and MMA welding experience an advantage)
• Use a variety of tools and machinery including grinders, guillotines, and presses
• Check finished work against specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Work to production deadlines while maintaining quality standards
• Follow all health and safety procedures, including PPE use and safe workshop practices

Desirable Skills of the Plater / Welder and Fabricator role:

• Experience working with large-scale construction or industrial steel projects
• Knowledge of welding codes and quality standards
• Overhead crane operation and forklift licence (training can be provided)
• Ability to carry out basic welding repairs and modifications on-site when required
