Temporary- Maternity Cover
Salary Grade 6, £33,699 to £36,363
Full Time 37 hours per week
Are you a motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to make a real impact in local economic development? We have an exciting opportunity to join Bassetlaw District Council’s Economic Development Team as Assistant Manager, providing maternity cover for 9–12 months at our Business Centres.
This role will support the delivery and management of services at our growing business enterprise centres: Middleton’s Yard in Worksop and Retford Enterprise Centre, along with other Economic Development facilities across the district.
Over the past three years, Bassetlaw District Council has successfully launched Middletons Yard—a newly renovated and now thriving business hub in Worksop town centre—mirroring the established offering of Retford Enterprise Centre by providing high-quality office space for local businesses.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you will:
• Be based across Middletons Yard and Retford Enterprise Centre, helping manage the day-to-day operations.
• Deputise for the Centre Manager.
• Oversee on-site staff and coordinate with internal and external support teams.
• Ensure a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for all building users.
• Respond to emerging service demands and help deliver key projects for the wider Economic Development team.
About You
We are looking for a confident and organised team player who can demonstrate:
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• A track record of providing excellent customer service.
• The ability to work independently, problem-solve and remain calm under pressure.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel between sites (a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential).
If you're passionate about supporting business growth in your community and want to contribute to a dynamic, forward-thinking team, we’d love to hear from you.
If you would like more information about the role, please contact Kevin Ellis, Business Centre Manager on 07443 179203.
We offer a generous employee benefit package including 26-32 days holiday plus bank holidays, free healthcare cash plan, flexitime and so much more. You can read about all our employee benefits here.
We value the diversity of our people and actively encourage applications from all sections of the community. We maintain fair and well thought out recruitment processes at every stage to make sure that everyone is treated equally.
