An exciting opportunity has arisen to join James Mackenzie Ward, where we deliver high-quality care to patients with cardiac conditions.

As a Health Care Assistant, you’ll support our experienced nursing team in providing exceptional patient care in a calm, compassionate, and professional environment.

We’re looking for individuals with NHS or care experience – or those with strong customer service backgrounds who are ready to begin a rewarding career in healthcare. If you're kind, caring, and genuinely passionate about helping others, we’ll support you with training and development every step of the way.

This role offers the chance to build valuable skills and confidence as you progress within the NHS.

At Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, we’re proud of our inclusive, supportive culture. We value our people and foster a real sense of belonging. If you share our values and want to make a difference – we’d love to hear from you.

Please be aware that we reserve the right to close this vacancy early should a suitable number of applications be received.

Unfortunately, there is no Visa sponsorship available for this role.

As a Health Care Assistant you will be a hugely valuable support to our Nursing and Midwifery teams providing care to our patients. Every day will be different and you will work alongside the rest of the team carrying out a wide range of tasks and assisting with care to support the needs of the patients and their families.

Examples of what you may do as part of your role:
• Washing and dressing patients.
• Serving meals and feeding patients.
• Helping patients to move around.
• Making beds.
• Talking to patients and their families.
• Monitoring patient condition.
• Skills and personal attributes needed.
• Caring and kind.
• Cheerful and friendly.
• Keen to support patients with their personal needs including washing and toileting.
• Able to follow direct instructions.
• Happy to work in a team but also able to use own initiative.
• Have good listening and communication skills.
• Be well organised.

A Full time position is available, and we are open to discuss flexible working arrangements. This opportunity is available for candidates who have the right to work in the UK. Applications from underrepresented groups including LGBT+, Ethnic Minority or disabled people are particularly welcome.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) brings together key health, care, community, and voluntary sector organisations from across our area. Our aim is to work together in partnership to join up health and care services, improving our populations health and well-being and reducing health inequalities. One such example of this collaborative work is the launch of our HCA Academy, an ICS initiative between Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to support the incoming Health Care assistant (HCA) workforce. The academy models a ‘one workforce’ cross system approach to the on-boarding, induction, education and experience of Healthcare Assistants.

The successful candidate for this post will be required to attend our 3-day MSEFT corporate / local welcome during your first week of employment with MSEFT. Your start date will therefore fall in line with the HCA Academy induction dates across the month, which will be discussed and agreed during the recruitment process.

Our HCA Academy Induction has been designed to train and support successful candidate through the early stages of their employment at MSEFT, and will provide opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge and experience.

Further information will be provided post interview.
