We’re looking for a qualified HGV Driver to join the English National Opera’s Transport Department, helping to ensure the safe and efficient movement of scenery, props, costumes, and equipment that bring our productions to life.
The Driver plays a key role, working under the Transport, Logistics & Stores Manager to provide professional transport services locally and nationally. You’ll work closely with colleagues across ENO, as well as external contractors, to plan routes, load and unload vehicles, and maintain our fleet to the highest safety and operational standards.
If you’re an experienced, safety-conscious driver with a clean license,
a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to deliver excellent service under pressure, we’d love to hear from you.
Requirements:
• Clean, valid HGV licence
• Proven experience driving commercial vehicles, including long-distance journeys
• Ability to safely operate vehicles over 7.5 tonnes
• Strong knowledge of Department for Transport regulations and road safety laws
• Experience in loading, securing, and unloading goods, with safe manual-handling skills
• Good route-planning and navigation skills, including adapting to traffic conditions
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
• Physically fit and able to lift/carry heavy or awkward items as required
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a customer-focused approach
• Ability to maintain accurate delivery, mileage, and vehicle maintenance records
• Commitment to ENO’s Health & Safety policies and operational standards
