Based at STEP | Reporting to the Front of House Co-ordinator
We're looking for a friendly and hard-working Catering Assistant to join our team at STEP. You’ll help run our on-site takeaway and support our venue catering. The role is fast-paced, hands-on, and customer-focused – perfect for someone who loves food and takes pride in great service.
Main Responsibilities:
Prepare, cook and serve fresh food and drinks for our takeaway and venue events
Help create menus, manage portion sizes and food costs
Make items like breakfast rolls, paninis, soups and meals from scratch
Maintain food hygiene, allergen control and health & safety standards
Keep the kitchen clean, organised and fully stocked
Take online orders and use our till system (EPOS)
Help with stock takes and ordering supplies
Open and close the unit, cash up at the end of the day
Occasionally work evenings, weekends or public holidays
What we’re looking for:
At least 2 years' catering experience
Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
Strong cooking skills and experience with menu planning
Knowledge of food safety, allergens and health & safety
Great customer service and communication skills
Able to stay calm under pressure and work quickly
Reliable, organised and a real team player
Friendly, enthusiastic and happy to help
Able to lift heavy loads and be on your feet for long periods
Bonus if you have (but not essential):
First Aid or Fire Marshal training (we can train you)
Driving licence and access to a car
