Do you have an inquisitive mind?  Do you enjoy engaging with customers? If so, we need you!

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy and is responsible for helping people move into employment, supporting pensioners and protecting some of the most vulnerable in our society. Counter Fraud Compliance and Debt’s (CFCD) aim is to drive down the level of fraud, error and debt within the benefit system, to protect the public purse.

As part of CFCD you will be at the heart of DWP’s efforts to reduce fraud and error in the benefit system. This is a hugely important public service, and our challenge is bigger than ever.

If you want to join somewhere that recognises the importance of work-life balance, where you can learn new skills and progress your career, then CFCD is the place for you.

The CFCD CBRS Grade 7 (G7) leads the Directorate’s approach to assuring compliance with Security, Data and Information requirements, leading CFCD responses to Briefings and responses required for FOIs and other departmental requests through a Briefing Hatch function, identifying and mitigating key CFCD risks, and ensuring effective controls are in place to keep CFCD secure.

As leader of a small team, working closely and collaboratively with the team is a key requirement in this role.

The G7 leads the team to deliver core functions including:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate CFCD Risks, in line with DWP Risk Mangement Framework, providing narrative in collaboration with CFCD Business areas which feed into the DWP Services and Fraud Risk Plan.
  • Report on risks and associated mitigating activities to inform and enable Performance Risk and Deployment Board and executive team (ET) decision making.
  • Identify and deliver activities to integrate risk awareness and practice into business-as-usual activities.
  • Collaborating closely with fraud, error and debt (FED) Policy and CFCD Functional areas to deliver robust responses received via the CFCD Briefing Hatch function (cross directorate function allowing collaboration on briefings), ensuring timely responses.
  • Evolve the Briefing Hatch function as DWP response to growing FOI requests and other briefing requirements change.
  • Work closely with DWP Security and Information Management to assure compliance across CFCD, managing associated risks, creating plans to improve.
  • Deliver a programme of Security, Data and Information awareness to support continuous improvement of compliance with process
  • Develop and manage the CFCD Business Continuity Plan within the remit of the DWP Business Continuity and Resilience framework.
  • Coordinate activity across CFCD to ensure that business level Business Continuity Plans are in place and tested.
  • Support and maintain functional areas’ access to small scale portals, collaborating to establish new processes where required.
  • Support the DWP ID Badging Process (cross DWP function to support colleagues who need identification when visiting customers).

Due to the geographically dispersed nature of this team, this role will require frequent travel and overnight stays.

You should ensure your personal statement directly answers the targeted question listed in the selection process section.
