Senior Raw Material Technologist – FMCG / Food Manufacturing

Castles aren’t built on sand, they need solid foundations.

Because before any product reaches the production line, someone needs to make sure every single raw ingredient meets the highest technical, safety and quality standards. And that “someone” could be you in this excellent stepping stone role into Raw Material Manager roles.

This is a hands-on, detail-driven, supplier-facing technical role where your influence starts long before the mixing bowls and conveyor belts get involved. You’ll be protecting product integrity at the very beginning of the process – from supplier approval to specification sign-off, risk assessments to technical audits.

About the Role

You will work with a range of teams across technical NPD, Process, Quality and Buying teams to keep raw material controls watertight. You’ll manage and maintain up-to-date Insight specifications for all raw materials, ensure supplier approval is rock solid, and risk assess each material to meet food safety, customer and legal requirements.

You’ll liaise directly with suppliers to gather technical data, support site risk assessments, and make sure our raw material records are always audit-ready. Your work will underpin compliance with Quality Management Systems, GMP, HACCP, and customer-specific requirements – with your reports and KPIs giving the site a clear view of performance.

About You

You’re not just ticking boxes – you’re thinking ahead, spotting potential issues, and acting before they impact production. You’ll bring:

Previous food industry technical experience (ideally in raw materials or supplier assurance)
HACCP Level 3 or above
Strong technical skills with Excel and specification systems
Confident communication with everyone from suppliers to site leadership
The ability to work both in a team and independently, with a flexible approach to changing priorities

What’s on Offer

Competitive salary and benefits package
Significant Career development
The chance to work cross-functionally and influence product quality from day one
A supportive technical team with a collaborative, improvement-focused culture

Ready to Own the First Step in Quality?

If you’re ready to make your mark at the very start of the food production process – where the raw materials meet the recipe – we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and bring your expertise to one of the most critical stages in the FMCG supply chain.
