Hays is delighted to be working in partnership with a global engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit a Buyer to join their operational purchasing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-performing supply chain function within a fast-paced and innovative business.
Your new role
As Buyer, you'll be responsible for purchasing parts and materials from approved suppliers to meet customer demand and support production schedules. You'll manage inventory levels, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure timely deliveries. You'll also work closely with internal teams to resolve any supply issues, monitor supplier performance, and support wider purchasing activities when needed.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a busy Buyer role
- 3+ years' experience in an engineering or aerospace environment (desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems
- GCSEs (Grades A*-C) including Maths and English
- HND/ILM or third-level qualification in a supply chain-related discipline (desirable)
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach
- Resilience, adaptability, and a structured mindset
