WHO ARE WE
The NSG Group is a global leader in glass manufacturing in three business areas: Architectural, Automotive and Creative Technology.
Our mission is to change our surroundings and improve our world. We work towards our Vision which is based on the strong belief in our long-held values: sincere and ethical culture, commitment to safety and technology and respect for people.
THE ROLE
The position is part of the Thin Film Technology Resource Group, which is part of the global R&D function and is responsible for developing new coated products and processes to underpin the NSG Group’s aim of growing its value added business and in providing technical support to the commercial and manufacturing teams.
You will work as part of a team investigating new coatings deposited by wet chemical techniques primarily using sol gel technology. You will work on several projects which may be short term incremental developments but will include longer term broader research projects and you will be responsible for the identification, deposition and screening of new coatings using laboratory equipment and you will evaluate the performance of these coatings using a wide range of tests to assess them against international and internal standards. The role also includes scale up to production manufacturing.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You and your Skills
Practical, innovative, self-motivated team player with a strong chemistry background.
Enjoys active involvement in development/problem solving activities both in a lab and in production facilities.
Ability to work across multi- national/function project teams using a stage gate development process.
A degree, in chemistry or material science – however consideration will be given to other disciplines/prior experience.
Experience in coating technology while not essential would be advantageous – including: Lab deposition; characterisation, modelling and stack design; performance testing.
Experience of using Microsoft Applications.
Benefits
25 days holiday plus declared bank holidays.
Bonus scheme – not guaranteed.
Pension Scheme.
Continual professional development.
On site car parking & restaurant.
We give everyone an equal opportunity to contribute to their full potential and harness the richness of ideas.
If you believe you can take on the challenge, we very much want to hear from you.
