This is a full time 12 month post, which will be based in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences at Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA). The successful applicant will work as a Neuromuscular Research Fellow with the Manchester Neuromuscular Research Group (MNRG). This post would be suitable for doctors working at StR / SCF level, including those who are post-CCT.

The Centre serves a population of 3.2 million and has the full complement of neurological subspecialties. At present there are over 35 full or part time neurologists, serving the conurbation with specialist interests in dementia, muscle disorders, peripheral nerve, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neurovascular, sleep, headache, neurogenetics and neuro-ophthalmology.

The neuromuscular clinical research fellow will play a key role in the Manchester Neuromuscular Research Group, supporting the delivery of commercial clinical trials and academic research projects. Core duties include acting as a sub-investigator on early-phase and late-phase clinical trials, facilitating patient recruitment, coordinating study visits, and performing outcome measure assessments. The role also involves cohort management to optimise recruitment strategies and includes attendance at specialist neuromuscular clinics to identify and enrol eligible participants. In addition to supporting ongoing trials, the fellow will have the opportunity to develop independent research interests and contribute to wider neuromuscular research initiatives within the team.
