About the job

Interview date: 12 September 2025

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the University of Northampton as we expand our Occupational Therapy provision with the introduction of a MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-Registration) course. This will complement our established undergraduate provision which includes a full time course, extended route, and apprenticeships.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the ability and passion required to be a senior lecturer within the Occupational Therapy academic team on a full time basis.

You would be expected to bring a passion and experience of working with learners to develop and reach their full potential. To be the right person for this post you must have a clear focus on the learning, teaching and quality assurance aspects of Occupational Therapy education. As well as being committed to ensuring a positive and inclusive student and staff experience.

Working alongside an innovative and committed team you will bring new ideas and perspectives to the team to ensure the continued high performance and impact that the courses have. Through your clear, consistent and organised approach you will be able to develop and grow within this post at the university.

This post is part of a supportive team with a track record for innovation and high performance.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

This post is subject to a background disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service before any appointment can be confirmed.

About you

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist who is registered with the HCPC. You will have experience of working with learners in either a higher education post or within clinical practice. With teaching, learning and student support at the centre of your approach you will be comfortable with working in a team and individually.

You will have excellent people skills and be able to lead on projects within the team ensuring we provide a high-quality student experience, while showing the ability to provide solutions to challenging situations while working within university policy and procedures.

Evidencing the ability to work at a high standard while also supporting and guiding others in the team environment. Having the ability to adapt and work collaboratively across the faculty is essential to this post.

Your skills within learning and teaching will be clearly demonstrated through engaging and impactful teaching leading to student success.

- Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Faculty

Occupational Therapy is part of the School of Health where it is joined by Physiotherapy, Paramedic Science and Podiatry. With already established courses in the area the expansion of courses and routes in this area is an exciting time.

You will be joining a supportive and committed team that works collaboratively across the wider Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Science.
