This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a growing food & beverage offering, with real scope to influence the direction and development of the bar and wider F&B service.As Bar Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the bar, managing a diverse team to deliver excellent customer service in a fun, relaxed, and welcoming environment. You’ll ensure the team operates in full compliance with all licensing laws, health & safety standards, and internal procedures.You will also play an active role in the wider hostel team-guiding and supporting team members working in all areas of the hostel, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and supported.Part of your role will include assisting in food preparation and serving food and drinks with genuine warmth, hospitality, and pride-positively influencing the guest experience and encouraging repeat business and additional sales.In the absence of the Hostel or Deputy Manager, you’ll deputise and take responsibility for the smooth running of the daily hostel operation, ensuring consistency, safety, and a high standard of guest service throughout.Working as part of a larger site team, you’ll collaborate closely with hostel management to support events and initiatives that enhance the guest experience and contribute to the growth of the business.What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Bar Manager?Our Function Managers are responsible for the line management of the teams within their own hostels, along with the management of occasional volunteers. They are also responsible for managing the operational budget and the safeguarding of all guests.To provide this service we are looking for candidates who have:Experience of working face-to-face with customersExperience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality serviceExperience of managing a team - experience of leading others, providing guidance to members of your team (desirable)Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands - can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting dutiesBasic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) - able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, ExcelKnowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA - what YHA does and how we do itFor more information about the role and the skills and experience required, please refer to the job description.At YHA, we understand the richness of life experiences, and we place just as much importance on lived experiences as we do on skills and knowledge.
