Join Our Team – Senior Technician Digital Fabrication Laboratory.
We are excited to invite applications for a Senior Technician to support our activities within the Digital Fabrication Laborator
About the role
As a valued member of our team, you will play a key role in the development of the additive and subtractive areas within the high-profile Digital Fabrication Lab, located in the Roland Levinsky Building.
Reporting to the School Technical Manager, you will be a vital member of the team. A significant part of this role will involve close collaboration with all faculty stakeholders, as well as external and wider university colleagues.
Your Responsibilities
• You will be responsible for operating and maintaining state-of-the-art fabrication.
• You’ll also have opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in emerging technologies including generative AI applications.
• Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will help us create a great student experience and a forward-looking department.
We are actively seeking candidates from diverse technical backgrounds. We particularly value candidates holding qualifications equivalent to an HND, Degree, NVQ4, or similar, complemented by relevant practical experience. Hands-on experience in any of the following areas is mandatory: CAD design in a range of packages ,3D printing in a range of formats, CNC on a range of 2D/3D small, medium, large machine types and materials (Wood/Metal and Plastic). A range of material handling, machine and fabrication experience is very welcome.
We desire a candidate who thrives both independently and within a team, appreciating the importance of contributing to a supportive work environment. Additionally, the role involves assisting undergraduates, postgraduates, and researchers in this domain; thus, strong communication and mentoring skills are essential.
