Interpret all specifications and generate concepts for a design solution that meet them.
Develop a Bill of Materials that is accurate and complete and provides clear revision control.
Develop and engineer components and sub-assemblies for each BoM item that Lear is design responsible for.
Support the customer and the supplier base (whether directed or otherwise) to develop their components.
Integrate all components and sub-systems into the seat(s)
Analyse the product, virtually and physically, and capture any issues in an open issues list.
Resolve technical issues in the product by removing the root cause.
Provide interim containments whilst root cause is being removed, with written work instructions for execution.
Ensure that the engineering drawings produced for each product are complete and unambiguous.
Have working knowledge of legal, customer and Lear seating and safety requirements
Ensure the product meets all legal requirements
Ensure the product meets all customer requirements
Ensure the product meets all Lear requirements
Ensure the product is feasible to manufacture.
Release all components and assemblies to the Lear and customer PLM systems
Perform tolerance calculations to ensure functional requirements are met
Order parts and ensure effective revision control for engineering builds, samples and mock-ups
Participate in the building of Moment of Truth (prototype) seats and creating physical component mock ups.
Ensure all test plans are complete and demonstrate adherence to all applicable specifications
Support the Lear and customer manufacturing facilities in resolving technical issues from the product post job 1
Monitor and audit best cost country offshore tasks
Demonstrate behaviours consistent with Lear vision and values.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, Lear leadership, suppliers and customers and represent themselves and Lear appropriately.
Ability to work effectively alone and within teams in a high-pressure environment
A diligent and methodical approach to engineering and record keeping
Flexibility to support key events outside of normal working hours if necessary.
Flexibility to support key events at other Lear, customer or supplier events if necessary.
Highly developed planning and organisational skills
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to working in a team
Ability to assimilate information quickly and then take decisive action
Demonstrate an enthusiasm for mechanical engineering and seat design.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
Tertiary level STEM qualification.
2 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role
Ability to create and communicate engineering schemes from either surrogate parts or new concepts
Ability to read an engineering drawing.
Ability to use MS office suit applications
Desirable
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
5 years’ experience in automotive seating
Highly competent in MS-excel
