Our Key Route Network team is excited to offer a brand-new, 12-month opportunity for a Digital Traffic Regulation Order (DTRO) Coordinator. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with local authorities to digitise and standardise traffic regulation orders, creating a centralised, accessible mapping database that can be easily shared and utilised.
This is a varied and impactful role where you’ll collect and verify traffic regulation order data, manage and maintain the regional database, and ensure full compliance with Department for Transport (DfT) guidance. You’ll have the opportunity to bring fresh ideas and modernise how we manage traffic information, enhancing efficiency, and delivering tangible benefits for road users across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a project supporting DfT legislation to create a traffic database— acting as a single point of truth to improve road safety and prepare the UK for a future of autonomous vehicles. This role offers the opportunity to step into a niche field, develop your mapping and GIS skills and collaborate with professionals across multiple organisations.
What you will be doing
- Support the implementation of the UK government's D-TRO guidance
- Ensure consistency in TRO data processing across the seven WMCA local highway authorities
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve data accuracy and accessibility
- Build and maintain effective relationships with partners and stakeholders
- Provide guidance and support on TRO data inputting procedures
- Interpret and validate both text and map-based traffic regulation order data
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of data discrepancies
- Provide administrative support for meetings, producing agendas, formatting documents, and generating reports
- Stay updated with latest government guidance relating to D-TROs and other relevant policies and legislation
- Assist in developing training materials or guidance documents
What’s essential
- Experience in data processing, data input, or database management
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database management tools
- Good communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
- Understanding of data protection and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- A-Level, Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience in data processing, administration, or GIS-related fields
Location.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane with at least 3 days a week spent in the office.
