Are you a hands-on and reliable individual with a passion for maintaining safe, efficient, and welcoming school environments? We’re looking for a skilled Caretaker to join our team and take responsibility for the daily upkeep, safety, and smooth running of our school premises.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of our school by ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

About the Role

As our Caretaker, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of duties:

General Site Management

Locking/unlocking the site
Setting up spaces for school activities
Supporting contractors and managing site deliveries
Completing weekly vehicle and site checks
Repairs & Maintenance

Carrying out minor repairs (plumbing, lighting, fixtures, etc.)
Managing routine maintenance and emergency repairs
Supporting refurbishment projects
Liaising with contractors to ensure quality completion of works
Health & Safety

Conducting routine safety checks and fire alarm tests
Maintaining compliance records and completing risk assessments
Monitoring and resolving hazards on site
Grounds & Housekeeping

Keeping outdoor areas clean, safe, and accessible year-round
Clearing drains, paths, and car parks (including during frost/snow)
Inspecting play equipment
Coordinating the movement of furniture and deliveries
What We're Looking For

Essential:

Experience in general maintenance
Strong communication and organisational skills
Good IT skills
A positive, proactive attitude
Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:

Basic plumbing or carpentry
Trade qualifications
Experience in a school or similar environment
