Job Title: Harvest Shift Supervisor – Day Shift
Location: Bolney Wine Estate, West Sussex, UK
Reports To: Assistant Winemaker
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (Early September – Early November 2025)
Working Hours: Day Shift (typically 07:00–17:00, flexibility required)
Hourly Rate: £13.50


Role Overview
As the Day Shift Harvest Supervisor, you will lead the cellar team during daytime operations throughout the 2025 vintage. You’ll oversee grape intake, fermentation activities, sanitation, and cellar logistics, ensuring that all tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a fast-paced production environment.


Key Responsibilities
• Supervise grape reception, sorting, crushing, and press loading.
• Coordinate pump-overs, punch-downs, and fermentation monitoring.
• Ensure accurate documentation of cellar activities and grape weights.
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards across all equipment and workspaces.
• Lead and motivate cellar hands, interns, and seasonal workers.
• Communicate effectively with the Assistant Winemaker and other shift leads.
• Monitor inventory of cellar supplies and report needs.
• Ensure health & safety compliance and enforce PPE usage.


Person Specification
Essential:
• Previous harvest or cellar experience in a commercial winery.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to work long hours.
• Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
• Forklift licence and/or UK driving licence.
• Experience with winery software (e.g. Innovint).
• Knowledge of COSHH, HACCP, and SALSA protocols.
