Applications are invited for a Yard Assistant based in Braintree, Essex. This is a full time permanent position working 0800-1800 Mon - Fri with overtime and weekend working available (i.e. Saturday 8-1pm)
As a Yard Assistant you will work in a busy Fallen Stock Transfer Yard and your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include:
- Skinning of animal hides
- Producing samples on behalf of APHA
- Unloading vehicles with a Telehandler
- Carrying out general yard duties
Meat preparation: The ideal candidate would be able to cut and prepare meat for Zoo's and Greyhound kennels however full training will be given.
The Person- It would be desirable but not essential for the individual to have experience of working in an abattoir, butchers or agricultural environment.
Experienced in driving a Telehandler, knives and butchering desirable although full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- You must be keen and willing to learn the trade and build your skills. You also need to be reliable, efficient and trustworthy.
- You must be able to use your own initiative and be hard working.
Duties vary from day to day but you will be undertaking general yard activities, handing CAT 1 Waste and dealing with Farmers/Drivers. This job involves heavy manual labour at times and working outdoors as well as indoors.
