Who we need
We are looking to recruit a workshop technician to support our Automotive apprenticeship team based at our Ruddington campus. Key duties include:-
- Be responsible for all specialist machinery and equipment within your designated workshop(s) and ensure they are effectively maintained and managed to provide the highest level or service to all stakeholders. Maintain asset register for the centre and associated records
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness. housekeeping and security to promote a safe and healthy learning environment at all levels within your designated workshop and support all practical areas in housekeeping.
- Prepare and manage a range of risk assessments, in liaison with the Health & Safety Manager, within designated workshops or relating to specialist equipment to ensure the safe operation of all assigned spaces and resources. Manage and support specialist contractors when in centre.
- Provide direct tuition support and workshop inductions to learners including preparation of workshops and resources to support academic colleagues to ensure learning is facilitated at all levels.
- Work proactively and take initiative with limited supervision
- Maintain accurate records of equipment and materials
What youâll bring
The ideal candidate will have experience within a workshop or practical setting, ideally with a background in Automotive with knowledge and ability to adapt to difficult situations. Other essential skills and experience include:-
- Hold Health and Safety certificates and training or be prepared to complete training.
- Have experience of working in a demanding environment, ideally within a vehicle body repair background, being able to act independently and responsibly, preferably in a learning environment.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the use and application of information and communication technologies.
- Have a respectful and inclusive attitude to learners and colleagues.
- Work effectively as a member of a team
