The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the Shaw lab to investigate identify the regulatory function of NRROS/LRRC33 in gastrointestinal macrophage development and functions, and in the development and progression of gastrointestinal cancers.

You will apply multiparameter flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, single cell-RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomic based approaches to transgenic mouse models and in vivo models of gastrointestinal cancer.

You will join the Institute for Immunology and Infection Research at the University of Edinburgh, which is a vibrant scientific community within an exciting and beautiful city. You will also join our active regional British Society of Immunology community, the Edinburgh Immunology Group, with regular research seminars and a wider community for ECRs across Edinburgh.

Your skills and attributes for success:

A PhD in Immunology or Cancer Biology, or a related discipline.
Experience in tissue digestions for single cell suspensions, multiparameter flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, tissue immunology or gastrointestinal cancer biology, and in vivo murine models.
Active or recent Home Office licence
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interact productively with other team members.
Ability to manage time to effectively and efficiently achieve the research programmes objectives.
Ability to quickly learn and independently apply new techniques.
