The Role Unveiled
This is anticipated to be a 12-Month, Fixed Term Contract.
Thebigword is one of Europe’s leading language services companies — and we’re on a transformation journey to modernise finance operations, deliver better data for decision-making, and strengthen financial visibility for sponsors and senior leadership. Backed by a leading private equity investor and expanding rapidly in the U.S. market, we’re investing in the people, processes, and tools that will support scalable growth and operational excellence.
As Finance Transformation & Systems Manager, you’ll act as a bridge between Finance and IT, leading efforts to redesign how data flows, how reporting is built, and how decisions get made. You’ll take a hands-on approach to process design and tool implementation, delivering quick wins, embedding scalable solutions, and enabling the team to sustain improvements long after the project ends. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on untangling messy workflows, driving change, and turning systems into strategic assets.
Your Role in Action
Build a Single Source of Truth for Finance
- Partner with IT to design and deliver a finance-owned data repository that consolidates booking, revenue, and cost data from multiple systems into one reliable source.
- Define and maintain data standards, mappings, and integrity rules (e.g. CODA P&L codes, booking references, multi-currency treatment).
- Ensure documentation and sustainability for business-as-usual maintenance.
Drive Smart Tools and Automate Core Finance Activities
- Identify, scope, and implement new finance tools and systems in partnership with Finance and IT (e.g. Alteryx, Blackline, FP&A tools).
- Act as product owner for core systems and tools, managing light configuration changes while overseeing more technical changes through IT or external vendors.
Deliver Reporting that Drives Sponsor and Executive Insight
- Lead the creation of dashboards and reporting packs (e.g. Power BI) that support Finance leadership, sponsors, and senior management.
- Support BAU reporting and enable self-service analytics for the Finance team.
- Analyse KPIs and trends to inform commercial and operational decision-making.
Redesign Core Finance Processes for Speed and Accuracy
- Evaluate and improve end-to-end finance processes—from booking to reporting—with a focus on automation, speed, and control.
- Lead simplification and automation of close routines, reconciliations, and Excel-heavy workflows using tools like Alteryx and Blackline.
Lead the Change from Manual to Scalable
- Act as Finance’s lead partner with IT, translating finance needs into system and process improvements that deliver measurable business value.
- Collaborate on broader initiatives like forecasting pilots, data governance, and cross-functional reporting.
- Train the Finance team and lead change management to ensure improvements stick.
Fix What’s Broken and Build What’s Next
- Clean up legacy system issues, document BAU expectations, and apply finance knowledge to ensure system updates reflect accounting and reporting needs.
- Implement quick wins and long-term improvements aligned with transformation goals.
