About The Role
As a Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to support the operational and clinical aspects of running a residential home for adults with complex clinical needs and physical and learning disabilities. With oversight and guidance from the Registered Manager you will take on a leadership role in the day-to-day management of the location, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your key responsibilities will span operational management, colleague leadership, and working collaboratively with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to enhance the care and well-being of residents.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership:

- Support the Registered Manager with the overall day-to-day management of the home, including colleagues, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to ensure the smooth running of clinical operations, including medication management, care plan reviews, and resident assessments.
- Ensure that the home is compliant with all relevant regulations and standards, including CIW, local authority, and health and safety guidelines.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence, providing consistent leadership and support across the home.
- Ensure that our policies and procedures are followed.

2. Team Leadership and Colleague Management:

- Work alongside the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to manage and lead the support team, ensuring colleagues are motivated, well-trained, and performing to a high standard.
- Support in recruiting, training, and retaining colleagues, ensuring the home is adequately staffed at all times. Including covering of shifts, where required.
- Assist in conducting regular supervision and appraisals for Senior Support Leaders, providing feedback and identifying development opportunities.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, and professional development among colleagues.
- Take on on-call duties outside of working hours in support of the home dealing with situations in line with CIW regulations and company procedures

3. Care and Support Planning:

- Ensure person-centred personal and health plans are in place for all residents, collaborating with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) and the wider multidisciplinary team to develop and review care plans.
- Support the Deputy Manager (Clinical) in conducting assessments and developing strategies for complex cases, including physical, mental health, and behavioural issues.
- Monitor care delivery to ensure that care plans are being followed accurately and intervene when necessary to ensure the highest standard of care is maintained.

4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

- Work with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to carry out regular audits and reviews of care practices, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, ensuring the home meets all required quality standards.
- Ensure that all clinical and operational documentation is up-to-date and accurate, including care plans, risk assessments, and medication records.
- Participate in preparing for inspections and audits, ensuring the home is always ready for external reviews.

5. Risk Management and Safeguarding:

- Lead on the identification and management of risks to residents and colleagues, ensuring proper safeguards are in place.
- Work alongside the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to ensure that safeguarding protocols are followed, and incidents are reported and addressed promptly.
- Ensure that all colleagues are aware of and comply with safeguarding policies and procedures.

6. Resident and Family Liaison:

- Act as a point of contact for residents and families, ensuring open, transparent, and empathetic communication at all times.
- Work with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to ensure families are kept informed of changes in residents’ care or health conditions.
- Promote a person-centred approach, ensuring that residents’ preferences, choices, and rights are respected at all times.

7. Financial and Resource Management:

- Assist in managing the budget for the home, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently, in line with care requirements.
- Oversee the ordering and stock management of clinical supplies and resources, working with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to ensure the home is adequately stocked for all care needs.
- Ensure cost-effective management of staffing levels, rotas, and resources without compromising the quality of care.

8. Collaboration with Deputy Manager (Clinical):

- Work collaboratively with the Deputy Manager (Clinical) to ensure that all clinical and operational aspects of the home are managed effectively and in accordance with the home’s vision and values.
- Ensure the Deputy Manager (Clinical) is supported in their role, offering assistance where necessary in clinical decision-making, care planning, and clinical supervision of colleagues.
- Share responsibility for creating a culture of continuous improvement, quality care, and operational excellence.
