About me:I am a 23 year old autistic woman with sensory processing difficulties and a chronic pain condition which limits my mobility. I’ve recently graduated with a Zoology degree and I’m starting a research masters in January so I’m currently recovering and resetting from studying for my degree.Due to my disabilities and anxiety I need support and structure in order to manage my health and build a sustainable routine. I live with my girlfriend who is currently my full-time carer but we are looking to expand my support options so that she can go out and pursue work and other activities.I love animals, being out in nature, doing crafts, reading, and looking after my pet tortoise.
PA would help me with:
- Household and life admin e.g., help making phone calls and writing emails
- Sticking to my daily planned routine and prompting to move between tasks
- Domestic chores
- Going to the leisure centre for swimming (just support getting there and getting ready, I don’t need support in the pool)
- Going with me in my car to the shops, leisure centre, or other places (as driver or passenger, depending on whether you have a driving licence)
- Decision-making and emotional regulation
- Meeting physical health goals e.g., doing physio exercises with me or going for a walk
- Planning, cooking and preparing meals in advance
Desired characteristics of PA:
- Female/AFAB/non-binary
- An awareness of mental health problems from a trauma-informed perspective
- Being neurodivergent themselves or having experience working with neurodivergent adults
- Reliable and will always keep to boundaries we agree together, as well as standard safeguarding and confidentiality rules
- Able to communicate clearly and explicitly to meet my needs as an autistic person
- Social communication skills and confidence to make phone calls on my behalf
- Driving licence and car would be a bonus (I can add PA to my motability car insurance, or I am happy to go in my PA’s car)
- Be compassionate, patient, friendly and outgoing
