What's involved with this role:

Job Title: Housing & Welfare Officer

Ref: Walsall RQ1564129

Pay rate: £19.61 per hour PAYE

Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office as your duty days

Additional requirement: An Enhanced DBS is required for this role



The role:

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Housing & Welfare Officer to join the team to provide comprehensive and high quality, customer focussed housing options service to applicants.

You must have a good working knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.



Key Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments, evaluating evidence and make decisions in accordance with legislation
Negotiate with landlords, parents and other agencies, both statutory and non-statutory to find the best solutions to customers housing & support needs
Determine a customer’s need for emergency temporary accommodation and arrange suitable placements
Manage a caseload and maintain accurate case records to ensure excellent customer service



What the client is looking for:

Previous experience in a similar role
Good working knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996
Experience in providing high-quality, customer-focused housing options services
Capable of assessing and arranging emergency temporary accommodation when needed
Ability to conduct thorough assessments, evaluate evidence, and make informed decisions in line with housing legislation
Able to manage a diverse caseload, maintaining detailed and accurate case records
Committed to delivering excellent customer service in a housing and welfare context
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent negotiation skills
A commitment to delivering person-centred support with respect and empathy
