What Were Looking For We are seeking a passionate and experienced doctor who is committed to delivering high-quality, holistic care at the end of life. The post would be suitable for those who wish to gain experience and skills in specialist palliative medicine or consolidate/expand on knowledge and skills they already have. Essential Criteria: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Minimum 4 years postgraduate training (at least 2 years in relevant specialties) Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team A genuine interest in or experience of palliative medicine Desirable: Previous experience in hospice or specialist palliative care settings Interest in teaching, service development or audit/QI When working on the IPU: To be responsible for day-to-day medical management of patients in the In-patient Unit, including admissions, clinical meetings, ward rounds, and close working with the multidisciplinary team. When working in the Community: To provide support to the Community CNS team and to see patients either in their own homes or as out-patients. To be responsible for generating and maintaining patient records, including inputting patient information onto databases. To be responsible for death certifications and for the completion of associated administrative requirements. To identify and meet the palliative needs of patients including the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and also the emotional and psychological care needs of their relatives and friends. To assess the changing medical needs of day patients, outpatients, or home care patients as required. To deputise and cross cover, when other doctors are away or on leave. To liaise with Primary and Secondary Care Teams ensuring consistency of information giving and continuity of care.
