Crynodeb
The Department provides Anaesthesia services for all major surgical specialties and works across two sites. Most elective work takes place at Castle Hill Hospital whilst urgent care, obstetric and paediatric care is at Hull Royal Infirmary. The Womens and Childrens hospital manages about 4600 deliveries per year, with an elective caesarean section rate of 20% and an emergency caesarean section rate of 25%. For many years, Hull has been a leading centre for the practice and teaching of obstetric anaesthesia. There are active research and audit programs and opportunities for innovation in clinical practice.
