Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Advanced Hip Arthroplasty Fellow at North Bristol NHS Trust. The post is for 6 months extendable to 12.
This is a busy fellowship with plenty of opportunity to attend theatre (up to 4 days a week). Two fellows are present in the unit at any one time, working alongside the following consultants: Mr W Poole, Mr S Bick, Mr P McKeag, Mr N Sullivan.
The post is only suitable for trainees who have completed their higher surgical training, post CCT or internationally equivalent.
Please only apply if you have performed more than 75 hip replacements.
We are actively recruiting for applicants to start in August 2026.
The post provides excellent exposure to all aspects of hip arthroplasty and hip arthroscopy. The fellow will be involved in primary hip and revision hip surgery with a large volume of infection work – as the regional infection unit is based at North Bristol NHS Trust. There is some exposure to primary and revision knee arthroplasty, but the focus of the fellowship is hip arthroplasty.
The North Bristol Orthopaedic Department currently delivers patient care to the local population of approximately 500,000 (pop.) and to the South West England Major Trauma Network as one of the two Major Trauma Centres. The Trust is a regional centre of Neurosurgery and Plastic surgery including the provision of than Orthoplastic service. It also provides a tertiary referral service for the South West for pelvic and acetabular fractures.

This post is not yet recognised for training and does not yet have postgraduate deanery approval. However, the job is educationally sound. It is desirable that candidates have experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent.
Please note, North Bristol NHS Trust does not pay any interview/relocation expenses in connection with this post.
