Crynodeb

The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) is the largest of the MOD’s Cadet Forces, and is a unique volunteer youth organisation managed in partnership with over 500 schools nationally. The programme delivers exciting opportunities to over 52,000 young people that draws its inspiration from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and Royal Air Force. Over the past 160 years, we have helped young people gain new and positive life-skills that have helped them to succeed in a wide range of career paths.

This can only happen through the dedication of around 4,500 adult volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experiences who give their time to help young people grow in confidence and learn life-long skills. As such, ensuring we properly manage and support these adult volunteers is vital to retaining their commitment and enthusiasm in volunteering with young people.

We will expect the role holder to work closely with other Cadet organisations and partners to identify and share lessons and good practice in administering volunteers and cadets, and in incorporating these into CCF publications where appropriate.

We see the role holder engaging with staff in the MOD, single Service Cadets Teams and the Army's Regional HQ teams to provide subject matter leader direction and advice on CCF policy, rules and practices. This includes supporting the wider Cadets Branch team by ensuring adult volunteers and cadets are at the heart of everything the CCF plans and delivers.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

This role is an excellent opportunity for those enthusiastic about supporting People and in developing supporting policy and processes. Located in Aldershot, we see you as an integral member of a small, focused team that engages with colleagues across the single Service Cadet Teams to develop, share and promote good practice that benefits a diverse volunteer youth organisation.

Key responsibilities:

You will be working alongside both internal and external partners to promote and share volunteer and cadet administration good practices appropriate to a contemporary national volunteer organisation.
You will be communicating to a wide and diverse audience across all parts of the cadet organisation by using a variety of means including briefings, presentations, websites and social media. We will also expect you to quickly assess problems to articulate solutions clearly to colleagues who may not have as in-depth an understanding of volunteer and cadet administration practices.
Providing the national Subject Matter Expert (SME) focal point on volunteer policy and administration across the CCF.
Ensuring compliance and coherence across the Contingent Commander and School Staff Instructor appointments processes.
Supporting the governance and assurance reviews of CCF units nationally.
Championing data quality and integrity across CCF units nationally.
Developing and delivering tri-Service learning and development opportunities for volunteers in key CCF unit roles.
You will play a key role in supporting the CCF Team in delivering the goals and aspirations of the Cadet Expansion Programme as it seeks to grow the number of cadets in schools to around 60,000.
