Summary
The Transport Manager will manage resources of personnel, vehicles, equipment, infrastructure and associated funding allocated in support of Motor Transport, to accomplish the mission of those Units within Headquarters.
Key responsibilities:
The role is co-ordination and delivery focused, so leading a team of two Civilian staff and two military drivers is required for interpersonal and business success.
To communicate effectively with diverse groups of people, within and outside the MoD, and across many grades and ranks.
Carry out associated duties of Authorised Demanding Officer (ADO), Unit Licensing Officer (ULO), Driving Permit Officer (DPO) and Defence Road Safety Advisor (DRSA).
Deputising for the Officer Commanding Montgomery House Support Office in their absence.
Under the delegation of the CO (Commanding Officer) you will be handling the day to day utilisation and maintenance of the vehicle pool and the management of the MT Support Staff, in accordance with policy. Specifically the authorisation of transport requests actioned by the Transport Coordinator, ensuring compliance with regulations and, where necessary, authorising the use of Hire or Private vehicles.
Carry out the duties of the ADO, displaying efficiencies on the utilisation of the vehicle pool to reduce the overall requirement for Hire, the ULO and DPO, conducting required checks of driving licences for personnel requiring to use the vehicle pool, as well as issue and authorise driving permits to entitled personnel in accordance with policy and the Defence Road Safety Advisor, to those units contained within Headquarters.
