Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Aldershot Garrison Headquarters team, helping support and deliver operational outputs. Through leadership of the Garrison Administration Office, the Garrison Administration Officer is responsible for the co-ordination, control and management of the delivery of effective military personnel administration, public and non-public funds' accounting, and casework.

This job presents the opportunity to formulate and implement an action plan to help preserve the successful outcome on the Headquarters’ annual audit, in accordance with the chain of command. It represents a stimulating chance to encourage the partnering ethos within the Headquarters, in order to ensure we deliver assured and high-quality administrative provision.

The role offers the chance to build on the existing team of subject matter authorities, within the MOD and neighbouring units, on a range of important administrative services in support of Aldershot Garrison. You will also have the chance to act as the focal point, for our serving soldiers and build significant partnerships with Commanding Officers and their representatives through which we will see tangible benefits to our occupants, soldiers and their families.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and Development of the AGAO team, which includes line management of 4x Service Personnel, 3x Civil Servants and 1x Contractor. You will also have indirect responsibility for the Garrison iHub Team (2x Contractors).
Monitor all pay and allowances payments to verify the accuracy of payment and compliance with regulations whilst fulfilling the role of Joint Personnel Administration system (JPA) Expense Auditor. Ensure the validity of claims submitted by personnel coordinated by AGAO.
Fulfil duties of Internal Auditor for Service Charitable (Non Public) Funds participating in the HQ Aldershot Garrison Service Funds Accountant Scheme.
Provide management information as appropriate to fund officials to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities.
Carry out duties of Imprest Checking Officer (Public Funds) within Service Regulations to ensure correctness and timely accounting of all payments and receipts and that safeguards, and security measures are fulfilled.
Co-ordinate the Annual G1A Inspection visit, ensuring that a robust action plan is implemented and delivered in advance of future visits.
Co-ordinate policy and control procedures to ensure personnel documentation and pay records are maintained within regulations.
Advise on specific pay and documentation requirements.
Liaise with external stakeholders on the provision of internal banking services, Personal & Accident Life (PAL) insurance and financial support to Service Personnel.
Act as the Garrison Data Protection Adviser, ensuring conformance with Army Data Protection Policy and the AIAR Dashboard.
