The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), the UKs fertility regulator, holds the longest running register of fertility treatment in the world keeping a record of the treatment and details of every patient, partner, donor, and child born as a result of fertility treatment since 1991. The Research and Intelligence team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that data from our register is used to continually drive improvements across the sector and address the way patients are treated in clinics, including how we prioritise key areas for improvement and policy development. The Senior Data and Insights Analyst plays a key role in the Research and Intelligence team and across the organisation in ensuring we fulfil our statutory and corporate responsibilities. They are responsible for leading on external official statistics publications and managing the teams quality assure processes. The Senior Data and Insights Analyst is responsible for extracting information from the register for all internal and external publications with their report, the Data and Insights Analyst, as well as for data researchers through applications to our Register Research Panel. They champion use of our data internally to inform policy decisions to improve the way we regulate, as well as externally through official statistics publications, public enquiries and working with data researchers. Within the HFEA, the Senior Data and Insights Analyst is responsible for leading on the production of regular, useful and accurate extracts of register data and providing methodological advice on all Research and Intelligence projects and publications. The Analyst also acts as an advisory contact for register data to colleagues from across the HFEA including senior management, inspection, IT, compliance, legal, register and policy teams as well as external organisations such as Department of Health and Social Care and research establishments. The HFEA has recently launched a new data submission system and completed a data migration project, to modernise the register. This presents an exciting opportunity to make better use of our register data and enable greater access to it over time. This will include leading their team in developing our award-winning HFEA dashboard, and improving use of our data in our functions in regulating licensed fertility centres.
