Your new role
We are seeking a committed and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a Key Stage 3 student in a supportive secondary school setting in St Helens. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support and help a young learner thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a KS3 student with identified SEN needs, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement and adapt individual education plans.
  • Support the student in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents/carers.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a secondary school setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant and SEN training are desirable but not essential.
