career in local government, gain valuable workplace experience, and make a real difference in
your community.
The job will include providing administrative support for event bookings, grant processes and
cultural activities. It will also provide administrative support for the wider Culture and Community
Development Team e.g. minuting meetings, filling in forms and processing payments for
authorisation.
Being a key member of the team, the apprentice will be supported in developing a range of skills to

knowledge required to apply a professional administrative approach to business. You will gain
insight into how a busy Council operates and have the chance to work with a variety of
departments and stakeholders across the organisation and the city.
If you are passionate about making a difference, have great attention to detail and enjoy working
across busy and innovative teams then this Apprenticeship may be for you. You will learn about
and support event organisers to put on a wide range of events and activities across the city. You
will also learn about and help with the administration of our community grants.
Your role will mainly be administrative but you will be able to gain some operational event
experience too as opportunities arise. The role is wide reaching and will include providing excellent
customer care with a wide range of internal staff and community groups and organisations as well
as professional event organisers in the city.

• A team player who takes responsibility and adapts well to change
• Keen to contribute to the success of the team including meeting budget targets
• Passionate about contributing to the success of the team and making a positive impact

assessment = 18 months in total. It is supported by Abingdon and Witney College.
It will be delivered as a mixture of online and in person training with some travel being required. It
is expected that travel will be needed to the Abington college campus site for 10 days over the 15
month duration and travel will be required to Oxford Town Hall a minimum of 3 days a week.
