Management of the day-to-day working of the department and taking responsibility for their own work area, prioritising their own workload according to clinical information available, and incorporating training needs of other staff. This will include rearranging staff at short notice when necessary. Take part in the training of undergraduates, postgraduates, including medical staff, medical students and radiographic assistants in CT. Where necessary, organise their training sessions, induction and providing tutorials. Act as a clinical supervisor and/or assessor when appointed to this role. Communicate effectively with the Modality Team Lead, Consultant Radiologists, clinical staff and radiology assistant staff regarding operational and clinical issues. To demonstrate skill in adapting technique to achieve high quality diagnostic imaging in patients whose condition would otherwise prevent this. It can frequently means dealing with patients who are in pain and distress, while maintain high standards of proficiency. Perform CT examinations solo or as part of the team, maintaining high professional and quality standards. Maintain an up to date and evidence bases continued professional development, by attending mandatory training, provided training opportunities and through research. Participate in staff development training through knowledge sharing and demonstrations. Partake in the annual appraisal opportunity. Ensure a high standard of professionalism and patient care within their work area. This includes appropriate and effective communication with patients by reassuring the patients, increasing their confidence, and promote co-operation to obtain the required diagnostic images to answer the clinical query. Take part, as appropriate, in the extended working day model (including weekends), night shift and bank holiday work pattern. To be flexible with shift patterns in view of staffing levels and training needs. Act as a highly specialised resource for developing new imaging techniques and adapting these to the needs of the clinician. Comply with all relevant Trust policies and procedures. Report all incidents or accidents involving patients, visitors or staff and, complete accurate statements and reports.
