We have a newly created vacancy for a Health and Safety Advisor, working across our South-based services (Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Norwich, Ipswich, Poole, Buckinghamshire, Maidstone, Somerset, Southampton, Hampshire, Surrey and Hertfordshire)

This role is full time and will require some travel between the services.​

Working within the Health and Safety team to promote and support the delivery of healthy and safe working environments. Offering advice on all aspects of health and safety, including risk management, accident prevention and legal compliance. Conducting regular audits across services to assess compliance, review the effectiveness of supportive controls and identify areas for improvement.
Carry out service audits, evaluating the effectiveness of existing safety procedures, identifying and evaluating potential risks, ensuring services adhere to health and safety laws, regulations and company policies.
Set and oversee service action plans which focus on continuous improvement and support services.
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures which set out standardised operating procedures to enable the delivery of high standards of care and support.
To provide advice and guidance on all aspects of health safety and welfare as appropriate.
To undertake investigations where health and safety incidents have occurred. Reporting to the HSE where required.
To advise on the health and safety training program, including researching appropriate training solutions and recommending training programs to meet the needs of the company where required. Deliver workshops and training sessions to colleagues where needs arise.
Promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture across the company.
Monitor and analyse risk using a proactive and forward-looking approach.
Recommend and implement changes to working practice that are safe and comply with legislation.
Communicate health and safety related information to employees, management, directors and stakeholders where required.

Remain up to date on health and safety laws and regulations specific to the care industry in England, Scotland and Wales, advising on necessary adjustments in a proactive manner.
To deputise for the Health and Safety Lead in their absence.
Comply with the company Code of Conduct.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
About you

You will have ​IOSH Level 3 Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely and be able to demonstrate the following:
In depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, particularly those relevant to the care sector in England, and ideally also in Scotland and Wales.
Good knowledge of general health and safety
Experience in carrying out risk assessments
Experience in carrying out workplace audits
Experience carrying out accident and investigation

You will be have:

Ability to self-motivate, work independently and prioritise effectively
Able to maintain a sense of objectivity whilst building good relationships with others
The ability to influence positive change
Must be a driver with own car
Role will involve regular travel and overnight stays
