Our Ophthalmology service has a team of 8 consultants (including vacancies), 6 specialty doctors and 4 speciality trainees. This role will requirethe delivery of face-to-face onsite clinical sessions or within a community-based environment. The provision of assessment and management of a range of Ophthalmology conditions. Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatment options, and post-operative care. Stay current with advancements in Ophthalmology treatments, technologies, and best practices.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.

To ensure safe management of patients within the ophthalmic directorate.
To participate in outpatient clinics, theatre and triage, and provide autonomous care in general and sub-speciality clinics and theatre procedures based on relevant skills and experience.
To participate in the review process of referrals from other specialties regarding clinical management, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
To actively support the team in providing timely care and management of patients (triage of referrals, staff/ patient queries, perioperative care/ reviews, organizing/ performing operating lists etc).
The post holder will be expected to take on leadership roles to support the development of services in the unit. The post holder will actively participate in service improvement and be willing to take up additional responsibilities appropriate to the post to help safe running of service.
