Summary
Site Engineer
Location - Walpole & Wymondley
Start Date: 26th August 2025
Contract: 6-month rolling (2-year project)
Rate: £400/day LTD
Hours: 50 hours/week (5 x 10-hour days)
About the Role
NRL are seeking dedicated Site Engineers to join our clients team at sites at Walpole and Wymondley. This is a full-time, site-based contingency role supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure project. You’ll work closely with the Site Manager to oversee construction activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and maintain site drawings and construction documentation.
- Set out, level, and survey the site.
- Verify subcontractor works and ensure compliance with AFC drawings.
- Maintain site records, QA documentation, and as-built data.
- Coordinate temporary works and issue Permits to Dig.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Support health & safety and quality assurance activities.
- Lead by example in SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) compliance.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries, and handover documentation.
Requirements
- CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport.
- National Grid Person certification.
- IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or SSSTS.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in T&D industry (preferably National Grid sites).
- Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor experience.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and substation installation (including civils).
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel nationally and work on-site in challenging environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- National Grid Competent Person NSI 6 & 8.
- EUSR HSG47.
- First Aid certification.
- IOSH Environmental or equivalent.
