The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an SEN Assistant Tribunal Officer, who will provide support to the SEN mediation and tribunal officer (this is a less senior position).
The rate maybe negotiable for the right candidate. Please provide salary expectations with your application.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing support in the team representing the Local Authority (LA) position through the statutory appeal process in written format to SENDIST, in response to an appeal being lodged. This is a time sensitive process and the role is essential to ensure the Authority meets its statutory duties.
Proving support to the team in the SEN statutory service in relation to cases in appeal.
Supporting the Named Officer in providing contact for parents, Headteachers, SEN Coordinators and other service users for specific matters relating to individual appeals.
What the client is looking for:
Previous experience in an office environment, ideally within a local authority SEN Team
Some knowledge of relevant legislation, responsibilities and procedures including the 2014 Children and Families Act and SEN Code of Practice is desirable
Educated to degree level or relevant qualifications in relevant area or equivalent/proven experience in a similar role is desirable
Some knowledge of the statutory reporting and performance indicators requirements is desirable
Knowledge of school systems and an understanding of the National Curriculum
Good reporting and writing skills and excellent organisational skills
Ability to work independently and unsupervised to tight deadlines using own initiative
Good proof reading skills
Able to build and maintain professional relationships with others
Good stakeholder skills and experience of liaising with partner agencies
Able to act with minimal guidelines and intuitive decision making
