Pay rate: £29.04 per hour PAYE
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working - 2 days per week in the office
Additional requirements: Full clean UK driving licence and use of a car
The role:
We’re looking for a proactive and compassionate Housing Solutions Officer to join the busy and dedicated Housing team.
You’ll be at the frontline of delivering expert housing advice, preventing homelessness, and supporting those in urgent housing need and conducting housing needs assessments to determine what statutory duty (if any) is owed.
You will issue relevant notifications and decisions under section 184 of the Housing Act as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act and assist in assessing housing applications and deciding on nominations and allocations of social housing.
Key responsibilities:
Provide tailored housing advice and support to prevent and relieve homelessness
Conduct detailed housing needs assessments and prepare Personal Housing Plans
Manage a varied caseload and make statutory homelessness decisions under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
Conduct home visits and attend professional meetings in order to verify information regarding a households’ housing need
Liaise with partners, social landlords, and other agencies to deliver real housing solutions
Represent the Housing Service at key multi-agency meetings
Help tackle rough sleeping and support emergency housing responses
What the client is looking for:
Educated to degree level in a Housing-related subject or equivalent and must have GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
A minimum of two years’ experience in a front-line housing service
Experience of resolving housing issues
Experience in negotiation and influencing people
Some experience of working with households with complex needs, social, medical or mental health issues
Ability to assess housing applications and decide on nominations and allocations of social housing
Experience of providing comprehensive housing advice to prevent and relieve homelessness
Experience of drafting and making S184 decisions
Experience of investigating Part 7 applications
Experience of developing Personalised Housing Plans
Good working knowledge of homelessness legislation including but not limited to the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and other related legislation
Good IT skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
