About the role

Joining Bury Council as a Premises Assistant within Bury Council Facilities Management Team is a great opportunity to be a member of a team providing services to the those working within the Administration Buildings in the centre of Bury and keeping the buildings in great condition for visitors and employees.

The team open the buildings at 7am, in preparation for this a 6am start is required in week

one of our rotas finishing at 2pm and in week two starting at 2pm and finishing at 10pm as for Town Hall or starting at 12pm and finishing at 8pm for the Town Centre building.

The post includes locking and unlocking of Admin buildings, setting and testing alarm systems, cleaning, delivering post and parcels and providing a good customer care to our visitors and employees.

We would therefor prefer someone with previous experience of the above tasks but would not exclude someone with the right attitude to learn.

There is also the need to accept and distribute deliveries to departments within the council buildings and this can include some lifting, although not heavy and training will be given.

Day to day maintenance is also part of the post and a trade would be great as would experience of using power tools. Again, there is no exclusion to the right candidate who feels they have the right skills to apply without the specific skills above.

The successful applicant will report to the Admin Buildings Manager and if you require further information about this post, please contact Karim Mira 07581021872

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis and overtime as required. There is also a requirement to cover for annual leave and sickness.

In line with safer recruitment, please ensure that your application/CV covers your full employment history and there is a reason noted for any gaps in employment. Successful candidates will be asked to provide relevant references for the past ten years and character references will not be accepted.
