JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Specialist ADHD Practitioner - Treatment DEPARTMENT Neurodevelopmental Services LOCATION: Leeds HOURS OF WORK: Part Time (a total of 48 hours per week available) Salary *Up to £62,000 per annum for non-medical professionals (depending on experience) *Up to £100,000 per annum for GPs (based on 37.5 hour week) NATURE OF CONTRACT: Permanent ACCOUNTABLE TO: Clinical Lead Neurodevelopment Service ROLE SUMMARY As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive physical and mental health assessments to determine patients' suitability for ADHD medication. You will provide pharmacological treatment for adult ADHD, developing personalised titration plans and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey until they reach stability and optimisation. Your role includes participating in a duty clinician rota to manage incoming queries from patients and GPs, while also offering support to the Health Care Assistant when required. You will seek shared-care agreements and provide ongoing specialist input in line with West Yorkshire ICB Amber-drug guidelines. Ensuring that prescriptions are issued in accordance with legal requirements and organisational policyincluding the management of controlled drugswill be a core responsibility, along with maintaining high standards of prescription security. You will maintain accurate and timely clinical records using an electronic patient record, adhering to professional standards for documentation. Throughout the patient journey, you will assess and respond to clinical risks and safeguarding needs, escalating concerns appropriately. While working autonomously, you will also collaborate closely with colleagues when complex treatment decisions are required, regularly attending team meetings, clinical supervision, and MDT discussions to share knowledge and manage clinical complexity. A strong ability to communicate complex or sensitive clinical information effectively to patients, families, carers, and professionals is essential. You will also be expected to report clinical incidents and near misses to support a culture of learning and service improvement. FYou will take responsibility for your own continuous professional development, ensuring your clinical knowledge and competence remain up to date. This role will comprise a blend of remote and face to face assessment for patients. MAIN DUTIES The Specialist ADHD Practitioner Treatment will; You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to conduct thorough physical and mental health checks to assess a patients suitability for ADHD medication. You will be proficient in the pharmacological treatment of adult ADHD. You will participate in a duty clinician rota to deal with in-coming patient and GP queries, and to support the Health Care Assistant when required. You will develop and implement personalised treatment and titration plans, ensuring physical observations are obtained and reviewed and approaches are adapted to as required to cater for co-existing conditions. You will support the patient throughout their treatment journey, conducting regular follow ups under your care until they have reached stability and optimisation. You will seek shared-care agreements and provide ongoing specialist support to patients in accordance with West Yorkshire ICB Amber-drug guidelines. Responsibility for ensuring that the prescription is written as per legal requirements for controlled and non-controlled drugs, and the recording of prescriptions in accordance with Leeds General Practice Confederation policy. Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to security in relation to prescription security and management. You will work autonomously, utilising and adapting your approach as needed to cater for additional complexity. Where necessary, you will be responsible for liaising with colleagues in order to reach treatment decisions for your patients. Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs as required throughout the patient journey. Maintain accurate and timely patient records on the electronic patient record and associated clinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate record keeping. You will be responsible for recognising and reporting clinical incidents and near misses to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement. Attend regular team drop ins, clinical supervision and MDT meetings to discuss cases, manage clinical complexity, share knowledge, and address any emerging challenges. You will recocognise and manage mental health conditions and associated risks and/or safeguarding concerns and know when to seek support and escalate where necessary. You will possess well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carer and other professional colleagues both within and outside of the organisation.
