Summary


An opportunity has arisen for 2 experienced nurses to join our well established Stroke team at the Royal Derby Hospital. This team is a valuable source of knowledge and resource in Stroke across the trust, assessing, managing, treating and advising on Acute Stroke Care in numerous different settings.

The candidate would be expected to work alongside the Stroke MDT to support and deliver a continually expanding high standard of expert knowledge and care to Stroke patients who enter the trust. It is essential that the candidate is a Registered Nurse with current acute experience. A knowledge of up to date national and local guidelines is essential, as well as being an excellent communicator and team member. The role will involve autonomous working and clinical decision making, implementing trust guidelines as well as providing expert support, knowledge and advice on potentially complex Stroke patients to medical and nursing staff across the trust.

They will be given the support and guidance to fulfil this role and it provides an excellent opportunity for personal development into a specialist nurse role, through competency packages, nurse prescribing and clinical decision making modules supported.

To work within agreed role responsibilities escalating clinical issues for appropriate medical review. To provide an expert specialist nursing service.

Receives and prioritises direct referrals to Stroke across the trust. Assess patients with suspected Stroke and refer to appropriate area. Provide expert nursing advice and support to patient and carers. To support junior members of the team.
