Background

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council provides ICT services and support to 25 schools in the local area. The School’s ICT Support Team, part of the Council’s wider ICT Department, is an established team of five staff, providing a range of hardware, software, user and systems support. The services we provide caters to the requirements of our Learners, School Leaders, Teaching and Support Staff. Merthyr Tydfil CBC is committed to providing high quality ICT support services and is seeking to attract people who can provide excellent support and advice to our users.

The Role

To provide technical ICT support and advice to schools. Primarily working closely with a smaller group of schools, the role involves visiting school on a weekly basis to deal with requests for service, proactively supporting the users; resolving IT faults; and meeting the agreed service targets.

As part of a commitment to providing high quality ICT support services, you will be required to take an active role in developing and improving the ICT services provided by the Council. This will involve working independently, with some guidance, providing continued ICT support to schools, building close working relationships with users/customers and departmental colleagues and assisting schools to develop ICT systems in line with school’s current requirements and our shared ICT and Digital Strategy.
