WHO ARE WE?
We're Canterbury Oast Trust and we offer care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex. We provide long-term accommodation and care in small family style homes. We support people to live the lives they choose through independence, dignity, choice and achievement.
THE VACANCY
o Annual salary £24,160.50 plus allowances (Awake Night £24.46 per shift and Weekend Shifts £0.70 per hour).
o Full- time is 162.5 hours per month on a monthly rota with 9 hr shifts across Monday to Sunday, but we are also open to part time
o There will be a requirement to undertake some day shifts for the purposes of cover; training and team meetings.

THE ROLE
This Awake Night Support Worker role is based at Holly & Ivy Cottage located in the rural setting of Highlands Farm near the village of Woodchurch.
Awake Night Support Worker responsibilities will, amongst other duties include the following:
o To be responsible for the personal safety and welfare of our service users during the night
o Undertaking regular checks on service users
o Providing assistance to service users when getting ready in the morning
o Undertake basic household duties during the shift
o The monitoring, administration, recording and storage of medication
o To ensure all requisite records are accurately maintained
o Ensuring a consistency of care for all service users at all times
o To provide a safe and supportive environment
o At times the Awake Night Support Worker may be required to support at the service users family home
When undertaking a day shift you will assist and support our service users in every aspect of their daily lives including personal care. Through a person-centred approach you will enable them to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their goals and aspirations.
In Ivy Cottage you will be joining an experienced team supporting adults with physical or health needs and a range of learning disabilities.
ABOUT YOU
As an Awake Night Support Worker, in addition to having values and behaviours that match our own, you will ideally have:
o A good standard of written and spoken English - for effective communication, maintaining accurate plans, up to date record keeping and reading medication
o A good standard of numeracy (incl. calculations, measurements) - for recording fluid intakes and outputs, counting medication and measuring weights
o A good standard of computer skills - for updating handover notes, care plans, risk assessments, emails and recording of necessary paperwork for service users
o Knowledge of epilepsy would be advantageous
